The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a German off-road car that was first presented to the public in 1979. Serial production started in the same year and continues to this day. Its main production site was the city of Graz in Austria.

Work on the Mercedes G-Class began in 1972, and their goal was to create a car with the best possible off-road characteristics, high reliability and relatively light. Moreover, the main recipient of these cars was to be the Bundeswehr, that is – the West German armed forces at that time! Finally, the car, to a limited extent and later than planned, went to the German army, but was used by the armed forces of other countries, including Greece and Hungary. In 1979, the civil version was introduced, which with subsequent modernizations evolved into an increasingly luxurious passenger car, but retaining considerable off-road capability. In 2018, the latest generation of the car (designation: W464) was presented, which underwent a facelift, improved styling and off-road ability, and used two basic power units: V8 engines with 420 and 585 hp.
