The Batman is an American superhero film directed by Matt Reeves and based on the eponymous character created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger for DC Comics. His script was written by Reeves and Peter Craig, and chronicles the events of the vigilante Batman during his second year fighting crime and corruption in Gotham City, as well as facing the serial killer Riddler. It stars Robert Pattinson as the titular character, as well as Zo Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Barry Keoghan, Jayme Lawson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film was announced in 2015, with Ben Affleck directing and starring. However, after the multiple personal problems of the actor, he decided to withdraw from the project and Reeves took over the direction, with which he rewrote the script and selected a new cast.
